Career Services is a resource you can use throughout your time at CU Boulder. You may not be ready to start searching for a job or internship and that’s OK. Career Services can also help you discover ways to gain experience and build your resume during your time at CU, and even get a free professional photo for your online profiles.��

Your first year at CU Boulder is the perfect time to stop by the Career Services office, explore their online resources or attend a free workshop. Here are other reasons to connect.��

�� ��Learn��ways to gain experience��

Professional experience doesn’t just have to look like an internship. While you could still pursue an internship in your first year, this is a great time to build up your resume by getting involved on campus.��

With many different ways to get involved on campus, there’s something for everyone.��

• Check out volunteer opportunities.��
• Consider Fraternity and Sorority Life.��
• Find your fit at the Rec Center.��
• Learn about sustainability at the Environmental Center.��
• Find community at the Center for Inclusion and Social Change.��
• Attend student events.��

Part-time jobs on or off campus are also a great way to explore the kinds of work settings you enjoy (or don’t) to help inform your future career decisions. Maybe you’re an international affairs major, but love your part-time job so much that you change directions! Use Handshake or explore other on-campus job opportunities.����

With over 75 majors and 60+ minors at CU Boulder, you have many options for what to study. You also have the opportunity to customize your academic experience by adding a major, minor or certificate to what you’re already studying.����

�� ��Get advice from experts early��

Connect with Career Services early, especially in your first year at CU Boulder. Peer career advisors can help you explore options and share additional resources during an express appointment. Or, if you prefer a virtual drop-in, you can attend office hours, which don’t require an appointment.����

You also have an assigned academic advisor dedicated to helping you plan for graduation and identify what courses fulfill requirements. Advisors help you explore your options and personalize your CU Boulder academic experience. Plan to meet with your advisor at least once a semester to stay on track.����
