The Leeds School launched the Hernando de Soto initiative, based on the world-renowned work of Peruvian economist Hernando de Soto.ÌýDe Soto’s ideas on the role of property rights in alleviating poverty in the developing world have had far reaching implications around the globe.ÌýA group of our Leeds students, staff and faculty traveled to Peru to meet Mr. de Soto and learn first-hand about these concepts.Ìý
Drawing on de Soto’s ideas and other foundational concepts in business, economics, ethics, and law, the Leeds School’s World of Business course for incoming freshman is a key element of this initiative. This innovative course is delivered through a blend of lecture-style and experiential learning methods including gamification. Â鶹ÒùÔº address how underlying economic considerations guide the allocation of resources and behavior in modern, global business environments and markets.
