Lucy Sanders, CEO of the National Center for Women & Information Technology was presented with the prestigious Bob Newman Lifetime Achievement Award for 2016 by the Colorado Technology Association at the APEX Award Ceremony on November 9. The award is reserved for individuals who have made outstanding achievements and commitments to furthering innovative technology in the state, and has contributed to the initiatives of Colorado Technology Association.
Through her work at NCWIT, Sanders has made important contributions to fostering a more diverse workforce in the IT industry, in Colorado and around the country. “The ATLAS community is proud to have supported NCWIT since it was established in 2004,” writes ATLAS Director Mark Gross. “The institute and the campus as a whole have drawn inspiration and strength from their support of computing and information technology education. Sanders and the organization foster an environment that encourages women with diverse perspectives to actively shape their futures through computing, design and creativity. And certainly we at ATLAS credit the gender diversity (60% women) of our academic programs in part to our partnership with NCWIT.”
