Prof recognized for excellent use of tech in class
Associate Professor Stephen J. Mojzsis has been recognized for Excellence as Outstanding Teacher for Technology in Teaching by ASSETT.
ASSETT, or the Arts and Sciences Support of Education through Technology, is a student-funded group that advocates the use of technology to promote advanced teaching and learning in the College of Arts and Sciences at CU-Boulder.
In December 2013, ASSETT conducted a survey asking students to nominate an instructor who uses technology within their course to help students advance in their understanding of the course material.
A majority of 33 students indicated that Mojziz’s use of PowerPoints corresponded well with his lectures and strengthened the concepts they were learning in class.
Mojzsis teaches in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder. Particularly, this award stems from his “Historical Geology & Earth System History” course, which introduces students to the Earth’s history and encourages them to explore the environment through the lens of a geologist.
In addition to receiving this award, Mojzsis will be recognized on a college web site dedicated to technology in teaching and learning in the arts and sciences.
