Finding (and keeping!) internships while in college: Part 2

The following is Part 2Ìýof a three-part series offering tips for finding, applying to and keeping internships.

Part 2: Persistence

I followed up with Dylan Mark after our last article to bring you additional internship insight. It can be a challenge to land that first internship, so I asked Dylan his best advice for persevering in the search and finding the absolute best fit.Ìý

  • There is no one size fits all. Some students will find internships through connections. Others will use job boards. Others will utilize the career fair. Any approach is a good approach if it works for you. Just make sure to act.

  • Build your way up. Of course, it would be nice to start your undergrad career with that highly desired internship that everyone wants. That isn't always possible though. Sometimes, you need to gain experience to find that perfect fit. Get a part-time job, find an internship that has fewer requirements and applicants, and/or include professional experiences to level up!

  • Don't give up. Practice patience and persistence. Job searching isn't always the easiest but when you find the right position and get the role, it is worth it. Stay focused and positive. Some students find setting weekly goals to be very helpful.Ìý
