Keith Knox (PolSci '90)

After graduating from the University of Colorado in 1990 (BA Political Science), Keith Knox began a 33-year career with the County of Los Angeles working in the areas of budget, contracts, human resources, and public information.  In 2019, Keith’s service culminated in an appointment by the Board of Supervisors to the position of Treasurer, Tax Collector and Public Administrator (TTC), becoming the 23rd person to hold such office in the County’s history.  Prior to his retirement in 2024, he oversaw the annual collection of over $25 billion in property taxes and the ongoing investment of over $50 billion in public funds. 

In addition, Keith served as a trustee on both pension boards for the Los Angeles County Employee Retirement Association and the three Deferred Compensation Plan (401k/457) Administrative Committees. In 2020, he led a Public Finance Diversity and Inclusion Initiative, which focused on utilizing financial firms that are owned by (or have evidence of hiring and promoting) women, LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning) individuals, disabled veterans and ethnic minorities.

In addition to his degree from CU, Keith earned a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.  He and his wife Maria enjoy traveling (26 countries and counting) and supporting animal protection/recovery organizations.
